ASC Architects were asked to re-assess the old ANZ branch image in 2010, and have been working since then to introduce a warmer tone to the interiors, using new higher quality materials and a redeveloped plan concept. The definition of zones within the branch where different types of business are transacted is expressed through changes in floor, wall and ceiling treatments. The self-service zone at the entry is open and transparent with large areas of glass and a light-coloured floor tile. The Cash Recycling Unit technology allows a very open feel to the tellers area, while the more private transactions in the Banking Consultant zone are facilitated by full height acoustic partitions in glass and timber and a softer lighting level. Warm timber and coffee tones are used to balance the corporate blue. This future model ANZ Branch has been prototyped at 8 sites (as at October 2012) and planning for a nationwide roll-out is well advanced.
